About the role

Role Title: Frontend Engineer — Technical Reasoning & Written Communication
Role Type: Contractor
Location: Remote
micro1 is engaging Frontend Engineers — Technical Reasoning & Written Communication to contribute expertise to a customer’s project focused on advanced frontend development and clear, impactful written communication. In this role, you'll apply your expertise to help train next-generation AI systems. Your work will shape how models learn, reason, and perform through high-quality, real-world input. No prior experience in AI is required — your domain knowledge is what matters. This opportunity is ideal for contributors who thrive on both technical depth and the ability to clearly articulate reasoning, explain architectural choices, and communicate feedback in a structured, thoughtful manner. You’ll leverage deep expertise in JavaScript, TypeScript, React, and modern frontend architecture, with substantial emphasis on documentation, technical writing, and real-world engineering insights.
Scope of Work

Analyze and articulate frontend engineering decisions, presenting clear, concise written rationales for technical approaches and architectural patterns.

Evaluate and critique code samples, component architectures, and state management solutions, providing contextual, actionable written feedback.

Produce high-quality technical documents such as RFCs, ADRs, and design notes to guide frontend development processes.

Communicate complex frontend concepts — including performance optimization, accessibility, and rendering strategies (SSR/CSR/SSG) — through precise, well-structured written output.

Participate in code review simulations and technical discussions, synthesizing insights into clear, constructive commentary.

Contribute expert-level domain input that shapes the development of AI models in the context of real-world frontend engineering tasks.

Preferred Qualifications

3+ years of professional experience in frontend engineering using JavaScript, TypeScript, React (or comparable frameworks), and modern HTML/CSS practices.

Proven ability to author clear, technically rigorous documentation, including RFCs, ADRs, or code review feedback.

Strong grounding in component architecture, state management patterns, and frontend performance optimization.

Demonstrated familiarity with accessibility and best practices for inclusive web development (a11y).

Experience with server-side, client-side, and static site rendering strategies.

Exceptional written English communication skills, with the ability to convey sophisticated technical subjects to varied audiences.

Background with leading technology organizations or top academic institutions is a plus.
