About the role

About Nomos
Europe pays more than twice as much for electricity as the US or Asia. To reach competitive price levels, Europe has to lean on solar and deliver the flexibility that makes this feasible. Nomos is building a full-stack power company to unlock that flexibility by connecting millions of homes to Europe’s energy markets.
At Nomos, we care about our craft and take full responsibility for what we build. We hire for spikes, not an absence of weaknesses, and look for exceptional ability backed by a record of achievement. This has brought together IMO and IOI medalists, former founders and Olympic athletes in a team whose individual strengths reinforce one another.

What you’ll do
Nomos operates at the intersection of energy and finance. You will build and run our finance function, taking responsibility for the liquidity we need and the capital entrusted to us.
Plan and manage liquidity across electricity trading, household payments, and company operations.

Define and enforce how money moves: spending, approvals, and financial controls.

Run accounting, payroll, and the month-end close, with reliable reporting for the founders and investors.

Exciting challenges
Build the function from scratch. Decide what we run ourselves, where we need external expertise, and what we can automate. Work with engineering to build processes that stay accurate as transaction volumes grow.

Put our capital to work carefully. Understand what we can commit, anticipate future funding needs, and challenge spending that does not justify itself. As Nomos grows, explore where financial products could strengthen our energy offering.

Who you are
You treat our capital as your own. You’ve run finance before or can show the depth and judgement to build the function. You trace numbers back to their source and challenge the assumptions behind them. Before a new product launches or a partnership grows, you’ve worked through what it means for our finances.

You are allergic to loose ends. A number that almost reconciles is a number that is wrong. You find the discrepancy before anyone asks. You’re keen to use automation and AI to make the work more reliable.

German and English, both fluent. Accounting, payroll, and tax all happen in German here.

Why join us?
As an early member of Nomos, you’ll help shape the company and share in its financial upside. Backed by Index Ventures, we’re building a European category leader in one of the world’s largest industries, making electricity affordable and Europe more competitive.
Building a power company from scratch brings complex, rewarding challenges and the chance to solve Europe’s energy crisis for the long term. You’ll learn from people with exceptional depth in their fields, challenge each other’s thinking and take responsibility from the start.
