Overview
Tier One Technologies is looking for a COBOL/IDMS Developer to maintain and support a variety of applications while also providing support within the database environment for our U.S. Government client.
This will be a 100% remote Contract-to-Hire position.
Must be a US Citizen.
SELECTED CANDIDATES WITHOUT REQUIRED CLEARANCE WILL BE SUBJECT TO A FEDERAL GOVERNMENT BACKGROUND INVESTIGATION TO RECEIVE IT.
Responsibilities
Ensure requirements comply with client requirements and government standards through formal verification methods.
Translate high-level product development strategies into system requirements specifications and work with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop lower-level, detailed implementation requirements.
Establish and coordinate the development of standards, practices, and procedures related to overall product development.
Design interfaces and integrate system elements to ensure they function together as a cohesive system.
Assess system performance using established evaluation criteria and technical performance measures.
Act as a customer liaison and support business development activities to understand and help shape requirements.
Participate in system conceptual design and document design concepts.
Participate in design reviews of hardware and software components to ensure applicability to the current system and traceability of requirements through compliance verification and validation.
Develop system-level requirements verification procedures and customer acceptance test procedures.
Review test plans and procedures to ensure they meet contractual requirements and participate in testing activities to validate requirements.
Modify existing databases and database management systems, or direct programmers and analysts in making required changes.
Develop and code logical and physical database descriptions and specify database identifiers for the database management system, or direct others in coding these descriptions.
Work as part of a project team to coordinate database development and determine project scope, requirements, and limitations.
Review project requests describing database user needs and estimate the time and cost required to complete the project.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
4+ years of IBM z/OS mainframe experience with COBOL, CICS, JCL, DB2, TSO/ISPF, and Endevor.
Strong knowledge of IDMS and ADSO (Application Development System Online).
Ability to design, code, and test software based on defined requirements.
Basic understanding of the full software development lifecycle, including business/systems analysis, requirements gathering, functional specification development, coding, testing, and delivery.
Familiarity with Agile methodology is a plus.
Strong verbal and written communication, problem-solving, customer service, and interpersonal skills.
Must be a US Citizen (no dual citizenship).
Able to obtain DoD Public Trust clearance.
Must have lived in the United States for the past 5 years.
Cannot have more than 6 months travel outside the United States within the last 5 years. Military Service excluded.
